California cannabis business permits

California was the first state that legalized medical cannabis in 1996.  Since then more than 30 other states have made cannabis legal.  While medical cannabis can be sold in all of the legal states, recreational cannabis can be sold in only selected states.  Basically those states that have approved recreational cannabis will allow dispensaries to sell it for recreational purposes.  Regardless of for what purpose cannabis is sold, sellers must have California cannabis business permits. 

Cannabis can be sold in a number of forms.  There was a time when cannabis used to be smoked only but today, there are many forms of cannabis available.  These include topical, oils, pills, liquid and tinctures.  California cannabis business permits are granted for different types of businesses.  For growers and processors, about 25 permits will be granted.  This also means that an applicant cannot qualify for more than one permit.  Dispensary permits can be granted to growers, but in the state, not more than five permits for dispensary will be granted to growers.   The application fee for the state is about $10,000.  The fee is non-refundable which means that if the application is not successful, the applicant will not get the fee back. This is the reason applicants must think carefully before submitting an application.
